The Beach Boys, Queen and the Ramones all recorded albums in the building across the road from my flat. The Clash once presided over a riot in there. Jimi Hendrix burnt a guitar for the first time ever on that stage. It’s played host to punk rock festivals, film premieres and unlicenced boxing matches. Now it’s a fucking Brazilian Pentecostal church.

It’s interesting to see everyone on Question Time is in an uproar about ageism, but rather than the fact that it is becoming far more difficult for young people to get a job in this country or the fact that children are expected to pay for the financial irresponsibility of their parents and grandparents, they’re upset about a woman who lost her job presenting fucking Countryfile....
